Hardware is key to any immersive sim experience. Off-the-shelf components are great - and the selection is getting better every day - but there’s something fun about doing it yourself.

I had an Arduino kit lying around, with some colorful led lights and a breadboard. With DCS-Bios, I turned those into an angle-of-attack indexer for my F/A-18C Hornet, and used it to fly a carrier approach.

Doing it yourself
